McNamara hints at Cuba contingency plans in testimony
Defense Secretary Robert McNamara told the House Armed Services Committee that any Soviet move to crush a Hungarian like uprising in Cuba would be an invasion. He said the United States has complete and comprehensive plans to deal with the Cuban situation but declined to discuss specifics. He also noted several hundred missiles may be stored in Cuban caves and stressed the Rio Treaty would unify OAS members against an outside attack.

Friseo Gonales Longoria and Armando Garze Flores were arrested in Seminole after lawmen found a stolen 1955 Buick and marijuana in the car. Five Charged With Strong Arm Robbery
Five young Spanish American men face robbery charges after allegedly offering a ride to Lovington man Curtis Johnson to the Cotton Club then diverting to a country road and assaulting him. Items taken included a cigarette lighter two rings a watch and a small knife. Three defendants Huerta Carion and Eusedio Garcia pled guilty while two others plead not guilty. Two Women Injured In McDonald Road Crash Near Lovington
Two women received facial lacerations in a two vehicle collision near McDonald. Helen Cruz 19 of McDonald driving a 1956 Chevrolet pickup and Mrs James Harben of Midland a passenger in a 1959 Cadillac were treated and released. State Patrolman Francis La Due said Cruz pulled onto the highway into the path of Harben who was northbound on State Road 18. Cruz, cited for illegal turn and for driving without a driver's license.
