At the sale 1541 head of cattle and hogs moved through with bulk of receipts being good to choice springer cows and cow and calf pairs. Slaughter cows rose 50 to 100 cents and topped at 24.50 while slaughter bulls held or rose slightly. Feeder cattle remained steady with last week. About 40 to 50 property owners urged against street paving, prompting the city to drop Fern Drive Acres Flowers Ward Re-Division subdivisions and two Main Street blocks from the project. Services Held For Tatum Resident Lillie Mae Williams
Funeral services for Lillie Mae Williams, 86, longtime Tatum resident, were held at 2 p.m. in the Tatum Church of Christ with ministers Charles Pierce and Ernest West officiating. Burial followed in Tatum Cemetery. Grandsons Ronnie Smith, Billy Smith, Shirley Carr, Ira Stone, Cyril Williams and Marvin Painter served as casketbearers. Williams died after a brief illness at Lovington hospital, wife of William C. Williams of 606 S Avenue B, Tatum. She was born September 27, 1886 in Russellville Alabama and moved to Lea County in 1908 living in the Tatum area except 1926–1934.
