Lovington Wildcats defeated the New Mexico Military Institute Colts 76 to 56 in the first round. They face Tucumcari Rattlers at 7 30 pm tonight with the winner advancing to meet Portales for a state berth.
Five Carlsbad potash firms and three unions signed a new three year wage contract running to May 31 1967. Average pay raises of 22 cents an hour with some variations in fringe benefits. Ratification complete except Stone workers at Duval plant expected to approve soon.
Defense Secretary McNamara cut the B70 bomber plan from three to two aircraft to save up to 80 million dollars as technical difficulties persist. He cited fuel leaks and wing fuselage weld issues while noting A 12 speed breakthroughs may aid the All program and that the TFX fighter project advances despite problems. He praised the titanium clad AH as a major technical achievement and stressed preserving its benefits for U S use. The House Senate authorization bill includes 52 million to start a new manned bomb project.
The United States invites the International Atomic Energy Agency to inspect Yankee Atomic Power Co.’s reactor at Rowe Massachusetts, urging the Soviet Union to follow suit. Adrian Fisher said the move aligns with President Johnson’s nonproliferation aims. Yankee official Charles Keenan welcomed the selection.

New Mexico Bank and Trust received 2 134 091 53 plus 818 708 19 as the checking bank, totaling 2 952 796 72. Lovington National Bank got 1 438 192 12 and First National Bank Hobbs 1 067 045 76. Allocation based on each bank’s capital stock and surplus. half of deposits are invested in certificates of deposit with school funds contributing 1 160 00 in investments.

Washington General Douglas MacArthur, 84, will have exploratory abdominal surgery Friday at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for jaundice described as obstructive jaundice of unknown origin. A hospital spokesman said he is ill with this condition, and he entered the hospital Monday under arrangements by President Johnson.

In Los Angeles US district court the defense rested Thursday afternoon in the Frank Sinatra Jr kidnapping trial without calling Barry Worthington Keenan to testify. Judge William East recessed the trial until Friday.
