A joint effort by a Goodyear store and Security State Bank in Big Spring Texas halted a penny shortage. The program offered one silver dollar for every 90 pennies turned in at the Goodyear store during one week. By week’s end 302,850 pennies were collected, exhausting the silver dollar supplies of the three city banks.
