Across Saigon the Viet Cong launched a Shaman wave assault on government strongholds, with more than two thousand guerrillas 15 miles from Saigon. The Saigon bombing raised dead and wounded totals to 42 and 122 respectively, while U S losses reached 12 dead and 15 wounded.
Yesterday’s temperatures recorded a high of 91 degrees at 5 PM and a low of 65 degrees at 5 AM, reflecting warm daytime and cooler overnight conditions.

Utah wing of the Civil Air Patrol said the search for a New Mexico plane missing since June 11 with three aboard will not be re opened until July 11 weather permitting CAP pilots will search in the Fillmore Delta Eureka area of west central Utah. The plane piloted by J F Jeansonne of Hobbs New Mexico carried his wife and daughter and disappeared on a flight from Lake City to Farmington New Mexico.

Lt. Richard B. Steinke a West Point graduate 1962 Milwaukee native refused a Viet Nam duty assignment on ideological grounds and was dismissed from the U S Army. He arrived in Viet Nam with a Special Forces unit last July and later trained in Saigon for civil affairs before being reassigned to a remote post away from his unit.
In Algiers a bomb ripped the Palais des Nate fans hall delaying a critical Afro-Asian foreign ministers session. Officials postponed the session hours after an unscheduled ministers meeting from 10 African nations, with ringleaders taken into custody.
