Lovington Sees Four Showers In Early Summer Spells

In the first four days of summer Lovington recorded daily rain through the afternoons and nights. By presstime about 11:30 last night no rain had fallen on Saturday suggesting the spell may break. A hot streak earlier dumped 0.4 inches Friday night and 4.3 inches since Tuesday for a total rainfall total noted in the section.

United Press International forecasts eastern plains with partly cloudy skies and a chance of afternoon and evening thunder showers through Monday. Winds will be gusty at times with Hobbs and Lovington expecting daytime highs in the lower 90s and overnight lows around the lower 60s.

Massive Pen Break Thwarted at Santa Fe State Penitentiary

An attempted hostage taker sparked a prisoner rampage on Cellblock 3 in Santa Fe. Warden Clyde Malley reported five cells damaged and two destroyed, about 10 inmates involved, with six others facing disciplinary action. Multiple prisoners have lengthy sentences for robbery, murder, trafficking, and burglary.

Andersons Moving From Lovington to Gallup

Rev Dudley Anderson and his wife Mrs Anderson will conclude service in Lovington next Sunday July 3 and relocate to Gallup where he will lead the First Church of the Nazarene. He has pastored Nazarene churches in Lovington Broadview Texas El Paso Texas and Clovis since 1966. Mrs Anderson teaches math at Taylor Junior High School and hails from Ballinger Texas.

Firerock Townhouses Blend Pueblo Style With Modern Design

The Firerock project at 15th Street West Lov pullin features four townhouse clusters designed by Bart Prince in Albuquerque. Built by Zola Mae Holland Inc, the masonry frame complex uses brown and sand tones, extensive exterior woodwork, and native Southwestern motifs blending Indian and Spanish influences. Benny Lovington, a developing contractor, acknowledges the challenges of a large early project, while Ola Holland, president and investor, says the design may exceed initial estimates but shows strong architectural appeal and cultural inspiration.
