Two Arraignments Mark Quiet Lovington Court Day

District Judge Kermit Nash handled two arraignments. Martin Cantu faces a murder charge with a $2000 bond after pleading not guilty. Enaro Herro Tijerina admitted to driving with a revoked license and received a two day to six month jail term with five days suspended. Morris, the assistant district attorney, described a fatal highway crash near Artesia where ten farm family members died near Lakewood New Mexico.

Boy Hit by Car in Lovington Hospitalized for Observation

Six year old Lovington boy, Charles Steven Hill, remained under observation at Lovington General Hospital after being struck by a 1957 Ford driven by Linda Trammell. The incident occurred on Avenue D when the child ran from behind a parked pickup into the road. Trammell, of 107 North 4th Street, said she saw several youngsters in the street and did not see the youth until after he appeared from behind the vehicle. The youth was bruised and shaken but not believed seriously injured.
