ROSWELL New Mexico high school juniors from Socorro and Lovington will represent the state at Boys Nation in Washington DC later this month. Jack Baca of Socorro and M L Norton of Lovington were slated delegates at the closing session of New Mexico Boys State at Roswell. Boys Nation is sponsored annually by the American Legion Committee.
Utah International and Four Comers Construction plan a new coal railroad in New Mexico to replace the Navajo Reservation coal haul. The 16 mile line will carry up to 125 ton cars with three diesel locomotives. Construction expected to start in July and finish later, with large capital investment but long term payoff.

Grady Earl Bryant 41 of Lovington area died Friday evening at Hobbs Lea General Hospital from a sudden illness after being admitted that afternoon. Born August 11 1931 in Bovina Texas he is survived by his father Tommy Bryant three sisters and three brothers. Funeral services set for Monday at 10 a m at Smith Rogers Chapel with burial in Lovington Cemetery.
Mrs Eura Lee Brown 76 from Lea County ranching family died Saturday morning at Cochran Memorial Hospital Morton Texas after a sudden illness. Born June 12 1896 in Scranton she married John M Brown Sr November 30 1913 in Eastland County. Survived by four sons a sister and a brother plus 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral Sunday 3 p m at First United Methodist Church Tatum with Rev Louis Crenshaw officiating. Interment in Tatum Cemetery with casketbearers named.
The 1973 Lea County 4-H Livestock Judging Contest at Lea County Fairgrounds and John Day Farm on June 7 saw record participation in 12 years. Official judges were Oliver Maxwell and B W Duncan. Senior high point was Jack Duffey Lovington Eastern 4-H with Claire Jones Tatum 4-H second.
The Public Service Commission postponed a hearing on a proposed gas price change by Southern Union Gas Co. The resumption is set for June 21 with Intervenors from the New Mexico Municipal League and Albuquerque residents to cross examine witnesses. The plan would let quarterly wholesale price estimates be passed to consumers with possible adjustments if estimates prove wrong.
