New 19 Mile Pipeline To Boost Lovington Gas Supply

Gas Company of New Mexico officials announced a contract for a 19 mile pipeline southwest of Lovington to secure adequate gas for domestic commercial and industrial use. Lovington Board hires five as two teachers resign

Resignations of two Lovington teachers were accepted and five teachers were hired at the June meeting. Names present included Joe Trujillo, Bob Kerby and Ben Alexander with Bill McKibben and Merrill Norton absent. Two new hires had been recruited elsewhere and will not join.

One More Unit For Graduation Lovington adopts new state standards

Sophomores in the Lovington School system face an extra graduation unit under state standards. Present juniors and seniors stay on the old plan. The new requirements cover English four units, math two, social science two, science one, health and P E one, and practical arts one.

Bluford Turner Rites Thursday

Bluford F Boots Turner 70 of Lovington died Tuesday at Llano Estacado Medical Center after long illness. A World War II veteran and retired farmer, he is survived by Opal his widow five sons four daughters a sister 17 grandchildren eight great grandchildren. Funeral Thursday at 2 p m in Smith Rogers Chapel with Rev Willard Carraway officiating. Interment Lovington Cemetery.
