NMJC Offers Welding and Extension Courses This Summer

Eastern New Mexico University City will run three extension courses at New Mexico Junior College this summer. Courses include Education 505 Teaching of Art in Elementary Schools and Real Estate Law. enrollment ends Monday night June 12. An Advanced Beginning Welding Short Course starts June 13 with evening sessions for nine weeks and a certificate of achievement upon completion.

John Reagan Injured By Truck Wheel Rim

John Reagan a 20 year old employee of General Tire Company Lovington was critically injured when a wheel rim struck him in the forehead at the Halliburton Yard He had removed wheels from a truck and placed another wheel at the truck when the rim came off hitting him above the eyes his condition listed as critical at press time.

Castleberry Services To Be Friday

Funeral services for Mrs. Rendolph (There sa Mae) Castleberry set for 2 p.m. Friday at Love Street Baptist Church with Rev. N J Maehaffey officiating. She, 52, born May 11, 1915 in Desmond and longtime Lovington resident, died Wednesday in Hobbs Lea General Hospital. Survivors include her husband Rendolph Castleberry, a son Don G Castleberry, a daughter Mrs. Bennie Ellis of Odessa, and five grandchildren. Pallbearers listed. burial in Resthaven Cemetery under Smith Rogers Funeral Home direction.

Swim Meets Will Start Here Friday

The 1967 season begins with a Friday 3 p.m. dual meet at the Lovington Country Club pool. Hobbs and Jal visit Lovington under coach Bob Wallace after a schedule change to boost attendance. the public is invited.

Remnants of Tujerina land group search halted

State Police retraced the hunt for the 16 band members led by Tijerina in northern New Mexico as 400 guardsmen were released from the manhunt after a failed, military style operation. Authorities shift to informants and village roving to trap the fugitives while warrants remain for 16 arrests. Do Dolores Dominguez was captured in Bernalillo and the governor urged Tijerina to surrender to avoid further trouble.

Barbecue To Raise Funds For Glade Jola Center

A benefit barbecue at Glade jola Youth Center near Bronco and Tatum on Saturday June 10 runs 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. Relays games for all ages start 1:00 p.m. A Tatum Lovington women softball game is at 3:00 p.m. Door prizes music and cue tickets cost 1 for adults and 50 cents for children 12 and under. Funds support center equipment.
