Funeral services for Rosie Lee Kirksey are set for 10:00 a.m. Friday at New Hope Baptist Church 317 North Chavel Lovington with Rev. M. L. Cook officiating. She died Tuesday at 12:07 a.m. in Lovington General Hospital born August 1 1919 in Dallas Texas. Burial will follow in Lovington Cemetery. Survived by husband Little Ealy Kirksey daughter Alice Faye Brown and other Lovington relatives.

Cordero 44 a former Highway Department employee charged in a justice of the peace court with threatening U.S. Senator Joseph M Montoya Cordero appeared before Dist Judge James Scarborough on a separate charge failing to support his two children since 1963 The judge said he would study state law to determine if mental evaluation could be ordered and the case was delayed until the higher court acts Cordero was arrested after a warrant was issued for his arrest for failure to appear for a May 20 hearing on the support case He was taken into custody Sunday while seated on his uncle s front porch reading newspaper accounts of the threats

A 1961 trailer truck driven by Bill R McKown 38 of 1117 West Jackson caused 10 damage while turning from Avenue 6 into the alley between Main and 1st street. The right rear fender of the tank trailer hit a pole owned by Lovington Antenna Company causing 65 damage. McKown charged with leaving the scene of an accident. A 1964 Oldsmobile driven by John C Hopkins 50 of Lovington sustained 500 damage after a collision with a 1962 Chevrolet driven by Mary Skinner 17 of 1305 West Polk Lovington. Hopkins flagged down on Main Street and struck the Colt as it slowed for a light at Main and Central. Hopkins left skid marks length 39 to the point of impact rear of the car about 200 yards total. Hopkins charged with DV and reckless driving.
