Fires Under Control In Lincoln National Forest And Guadalupe Park
Forest Service says two fires sparked by lightning were brought under control overnight, burning about 700 acres across Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico and Guadalupe Mountains National Park in Texas. The Lincoln fire scorched 250 acres in Black Canyon with 600000 dollars in estimated damages to watersheds and wildlife. about 500 acres burned in Guadalupe Mountains. About 220 firefighters worked the blazes with slurry bombers aiding efforts.

Anaya Wins Democratic Nomination For Attorney General
Santa Fe attorney Toney Anaya won the Democratic nomination for attorney general after a comeback led by Santa Fe County results. He defeated Frederick B Howe den by a narrow margin as early leaders trailed then were overtaken. Anaya will face Republican write-in John D O Donewell in the general election. Also in the Dem primary, Max Sanchez edged Earl Davidson for state auditor, and Ernestine Evans won re nomination for secretary of state. Charles Rudolph won the Democratic nomination for one seat on the State Corporation Commission.
