Funeral Today for Accident Victim In Lovington
Funeral services for Gamesindo Acosta 49 of Lovington are set for 9 a m at St Thomas Catholic Church following a Monday night crash east of Eunice that killed him instantly. The ceremony will be followed by burial in Lovington Cemetery. Acosta dies in a collision with a 1954 Mercury driven by 16 year old Joe Wayne Wilkinson of Eunice at the intersection of State Roads 18 and 176. Wilkinson and Acosta's 13 year old daughter Braulia were hospitalized with minor injuries. Acosta is survived by his wife Encarnacion seven sons and nine daughters, plus his father Jose Acosta and four brothers.

Population explosion at Alamogordo worm ranch
In Alamogordo two couples run the Romance Worm Ranch starting with 20 000 red wigglers from Tennessee. The worm beds grew to an estimated four to five and a half million worms in back yards and a low building with 60 cubic foot beds. The operation plans national advertising and uses 20 beds with controlled humidity, feeding every bed one pound of milo cottonseed hull and meal. The artificial homes are three feet deep with straw peanut hulls manure silage peat moss and soil.
