U S Replies to Khrushchev on Test Ban and Pact

The United States told Western allies it is willing to sign a limited nuclear test ban with Russia but treats a Soviet non aggression pact as a separate NATO matter. U S would sign limited ban plan amid Khrushchev speech

Lovington Fourth of July Celebration at Country Club

Lovington residents plan a day long Fourth of July event at the Country Club sponsored by the Lovington Lions Club with boating picnicking water skiing swimming golf and fishing. A 7 30 p m fireworks show features a 750 package with flag rocket and spiral displays and rockets performed by the Lovington Volunteer Fire Department. Admission is 1 50 per car with all day use of club grounds and Lions concession stands.

Jubilee Quartet To Appear Here in Lovington

Whitey Gleason and the Jubilee Quartet of Oklahoma City perform two Gospel Singing Concerts in Lovington. The first at Northside Baptist Church on Monday July 8 at 7 30 p m and the second at the Church of the Nazarene all day Sunday July 14. Admission is free and the public is invited.

Mohawk Airliner Crash Probes Begin In Rochester

Investigators led by CAB head William Lamb arrived at Rochester Monroe County Airport to split a 12 member team into eight divisions and examine clues from the Mohawk twin engine Martin 404 crash that killed seven and injured 36. The flight from Rochester to Newark with a White Plains stop was disrupted by a violent thunderstorm and hail.

Annual Holiday Pool Swimming Show Opens Summer Season

Mechem to Speak on Dangers of Disarmament in Hobbs

In Newark New Jersey a clash between construction workers and Negro pickets drew police reinforcements as similar protests spread to Danville Virginia and Harlem. In Benton Harbor Michigan about 800 Negroes rioted downtown to protest arrests. NAACP convention in Chicago planned more picketing while Kennedy defended civil rights bill amid congressional testimony.
