Fifteen Lovington students will travel to Albuquerque next week for the New Mexico All-State Choruses. Names include Nicki Hale Martha Tatum Leah Pritchet Tanya McNaughten Carol Castleman Carrie Stephens John Leh Sue Cocki Margie Lewis Ann Gaskill and others. Rehearsals run Thursday and Friday with individual auditions Thursday morning and packed schedules through Friday afternoon. The mixed chorus of 350 will perform Friday night with the Symphonic Band and the Lone Star Orchestra, while the girls chorus performs Saturday morning. The event, part of the New Mexico Music Educators convention, is led by chaperones Mr Bill Chandler and Mr J D Fey.

John Noblet of Darien Connecticut survived a night on Mount Sierra Blanca after getting separated from two companions near dusk. Ruidoso officials, aided by local residents, located Noblet about 150 yards from a known path and brought him down safely.
