Local residents attended the funeral of C E Olson in Silver City on January 23. Mrs Olson will stay in Santa Rita where she owns a beauty salon. Olson, a mine worker, had been ill about three weeks. They have one child, a son Charles, age 15. The Curry Pruitts returned home late Sunday.

Hobbson Escapes From State Prison in Santa Fe
State Police seek two trustees who fled the Santa Fe dairy farm prison with outside aid. Gerald Forsyth, 23, of Roswell, and Charles D. Newton, 31, of Hobbs, stole a car and changed clothing after their escape. Forsyth had a five year fraudulent check sentence. Newton was under a 1956 Lea County breaking and entering term. The dairy farm is at the old south Santa Fe state prison.

Mucho Wires Bulbs Go Into New 1958 Cars
More than two miles of wiring and up to 34 electric bulbs and a dozen motors are packed into 1958 cars. Wiring totals nearly double prewar cars and push power demands onto generators up to 650 watts, compared with 264 watts a decade ago.
One Injured In Hobbs Collision
A three vehicle crash in Hobbs Sunday injured 21 year old Ronald Benson of 105 E Broadway. Benson in a 1954 Ford headed west on Roxana collided with a 1950 Ford driven by Julious Carr as he went south on Morris. Carr’s car struck a parked Jeep owned by Earl J Frawnener. Damages were about 200 dollars for the cars and 10 dollars for the Jeep.
