The body of Lovington businessman Jac ques Dailey was found in an alley behind his home at 1203 West Avenue Friday morning. Officials say the death resulted from a shotgun discharge but have not determined if accidental or self defense. An autopsy was performed and an inquest is pending.

Mrs Kelly Rites Set for Tuesday in Hurley Area
Ruthie Bilbrey Kelly 57, lifelong Lea County native, died after a long illness at Hillcrest Hospital Silver City NM. A Western New Mexico University graduate with a master’s, she taught 25 years at Hurley Elementary and held leadership roles in Rainbow, Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls, and Delta Kappa Gamma. Pickup Knocks Down Wall In Lovington Home
Michael Williams eight year old son of Mrs Dorothy Williams narrowly escaped serious injury when a 1969 GMC pickup driven by Randy Selman 18 of Lovington crashed through the north wall of the Williams home at 1405 West Birch about 12 29 a m Saturday. The wall fell into Michael s bed while he slept curled up to keep warm.
