A 19 year old Lovington woman was sentenced to 30 days in county jail after shoplifting at Turner's Department Store. She pleaded guilty before Justice of Peace Reese Greaves, was released after a few hours, and placed on probation for the remainder of the sentence. A separate item notes a busload of at least 40 local businessmen plans a Jan 21 three day trip covering 1700 miles through West Texas and eastern New Mexico to boost the resort town's facilities.

Burglars Hit Lovington Implement Co. For Cash And Tools
Burglars broke into Lovington Implement Company at 711 N First St Thursday night and took an estimated 150 to 250 dollars in cash plus 150 dollars in tools including a Meco cutting torch and P C brand stilsons. A safe was opened with a torch and several tires and a battery were carried to the rear but not taken. Police investigators Captain Herb Cunningham and Sgt J W Jolly recovered scattered checks and contents in the rest room. Ralph Smith, a mechanic, found the break in Friday at 6 45 am. The firm’s manager Hubert Gill was out of town. exact totals were not known.
