Voters in Lovington will elect four city commissioners and vote on two bond issues starting Monday at 7 am at the Fire Station. Thirteen candidates appear across four districts with incumbents and new contenders. Results will be carried on Able Cable Channel 3 beginning at 7 pm.

Two Women Jailed After Saturday Shoplifting Spree
Two women Dorothy McKee of Hobbs and Alice Swanson of Albuquerque were jailed Saturday on shoplifting charges after a plea was entered. A chase by Sheriff Howard Babcock covered 13 miles at over 100 mph. They faced additional charges of disorderly conduct and contempt of court after a courtroom scene and were held on $1,000 bond each.

Connie Cunningham Wins European Tour With All State Honor
Connie Cunningham, 1é year old daughter of Mr and Mrs J L Cunningham, will tour Europe with the School Band of America after being named to the All State Band. The group departs New York June 27 and returns July 25, performing in England, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and France. Kathy Grayson of Levington named as alternates. Lovington High School junior Connie is the first homerhead of the school band and has earned district festival top honors and two years in the All State Band. Eighteen Lovington students were named to the New Mexico All State Band and Chorus, including Connie Cunningham and others.
