Mrs Elizabeth Ann Smith 48 Lovington died Thursday afternoon after a sprained ankle incident. Services set for Saturday at 1 00 p m at Smith Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Harry Brooks officiating. Survivors include husband J Robert Smith three sons Kenneth Ray Smith Larry Smith and David Pinkerton two daughters Betty Ann Williams Elizabeth Ann Smith two sisters Joyce Lopez Pauline Venzuela and parents Eli and Agatha Breckenridge. Six grandchildren.

The U S Command confirms the loss of a Forward Air Control OV10 in southern Laos on Christmas Eve with two crewmen missing. A UH1 helicopter was shot down in the central highlands near Kontum during a supply mission, three Americans wounded, and a separate incident killed one government soldier while wounding five. B52 bombers pounded North Vietnamese targets as officials fear a major offensive during Nixon's China trip.
A letter by Dr. John P. Hubbard criticizing TG&E environmental analysis was admitted as an exhibit at the New Mexico Public Service Commission hearing. Ruggs drive in restaurant operator seeking Paul Ray Fisher seat. Hahn former long serving mayor now candidate for Malcolm Wright seat. Municipal elections are non partisan.
AP reports Pete Garcia 31, free on appeal bond after a voluntary manslaughter conviction, is sought in connection with a Thursday night shooting at Lindy's Coffee Shop that wounded three people. Victims include Charles Hickman 19 shot in the legs, Tom Lewis 39 shot near the ear, and Benjamin Harrison 17 shot in the heel. Hickman in fair condition.
New Mexico Junior College schedules a one day registration for the 1972 Spring semester on Monday January 10 in Thunderbird Gymnasium. Students must pay fees and obtain course cards during 8 a.m. to 12 noon 1 to 3 30 p.m. and 6 to 8 30 p.m. James Hooper urges bringing social security cards. Classes start at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. for Evening College on Wednesday January 12.

The State Dental Board unanimously approved a plan for volunteer dentist Dr. James L. Holiday to work without a state license at Tierra Amarilla's free clinic for the poor. Holiday, who left a Athens Georgia practice to join the Peace Corps and then a New Mexico volunteer role, will sign a $1 a year contract under a temporary out of state license provision. The contract runs until June 30, after which he will take state exams to continue practicing.
