New Year Snow and Rain Forecast for New Mexico
Snow dominated northern New Mexico at dawn and was expected to spread south as showers along the southern border. The Weather Bureau in Albuquerque issued a cautious forecast predicting the last snow of the year. Socorro reported 20 inches of precipitation in 24 hours to 5 am. Glenwood had .23 inch from rain. Temperatures varied, Otto remained the coldest at 12 above, Carlsbad reached 40, while Las Vegas and Hobbs saw 29 and 54 highs respectively.

1959 Safest Travel Year on Nation’s Highways
