A U S Navy hydro foil patrol gunboat to be launched in 1967 will be named Tucumcari in honor of the New Mexico city. The ship PGH-2 is built by Gunderson Brothers for Boeing and will carry the city name as per Navy policy naming ships after U S cities noted for action.
Postmaster Greaves warns that damaging mail receptacles is a federal offense with fines up to 1000 dollars and up to three years in prison. He notes about 25 000 boxes damaged in the year and 2 641 arrests for such vandalism, urging youth to understand the seriousness of the act.
