Mild Weather Disappears In New Mexico Snowstorm
A blustery winter storm chills New Mexico after a period of mild weather. The Weather Bureau warns of snow across northern and eastern plains with four to six inch accumulations and temperatures dropping to five to thirty degrees, accompanied by gusty winds.
Four Die On Ice-Slick Roads In New Mexico Crash
Four people were killed Saturday in New Mexico traffic accidents on snow and ice slick roads. Howard Scott and Frances Scott of Cleburne Texas died when their car collided with a butane tanker on U S 64 87 west of Des Moines. Emma Martinez of Saginaw Michigan and Debra Byrd of Tucumcari were killed in separate accidents on I 40 east of Gallup and on New Mexico 104 near the Trujillo Trading Post in San Miguel County. Debra Byrd’s body was found at the bottom of a 250 foot dropoff. An investigation continues into the car owner’s identity.

NM Senators Expect Few Oil Problems
Senators Clinton P. Anderson and Joseph M. Montoya say the oil depletion allowance reduction from 27.5 to 22 percent will not materially affect exploration in New Mexico. Montoya and Anderson expect continued exploration, and they anticipate Nixon will sign the tax form bill.
