NASA head James E Webb and NMSU President Roger Corbett discussed new links between NASA and New Mexico State University and White Sands Missile Range. Plans include a multi discipline seminar to migrate space age problem solving and joint rocket sounding programs at the university and range.
Santa Fe state supreme court ruled a contractor not liable for damages from negligence after project completion and acceptance. The decision reversed Chavez County District Court rulings in favor of Mrs. Bayard Baker against Fryar Plumbing and Heating Co for injuries from a hole at Walker Air Force Base in 1959.
A Buddliner passenger train collided with a stalled oil truck at a busy Everett crossing. The crash killed twelve and injured at least twenty as 7,000 gallons of No. 2 heating oil spilled and flames engulfed the cars. Police described a large ball of fire and passengers escaping through windows as crews fought the blaze. A conductor Edwin Hunt was found fatally burned. priests administered rites at the scene.

W W Carney 84 father of Howard Carney and grandfather of Mrs Bud Pinchback and Jim Carney of Lovington died Monday night in Eastland Texas after a lengthy illness. Survivors include wife Nell one son Floyd Carney of Kermit Texas and one daughter Mrs Edgar Paschall of Fort Worth Texas. Howard Carney and son Jimmy and Bud Pinchback attended the funeral this afternoon at 3 p m CST at the First Baptist Church Eastland.
