In Brussels police clashed briefly with armed officers as the socialist led anti government walkout continued to cripple Belgium for a week. Protesters blocked traffic outside socialist headquarters before police dispersed the street action after a brief scuffle with few injuries reported.
Former New Mexico Governor Clyde Tingley laid to rest after private family services. An honor guard accompanied his body at Strong Thorne Mortuary as about 175 lined the main chapel. A longtime public figure and New Dealer, Tingley died Saturday at 79 following a notable political career.
Dow Wood's condition was described today as about the same after a restless weekend. No further details are provided about the situation or any changes in the status observed over the period.
Congressman Joseph M. Montoya said he did not try to influence the Senate leadership vote or speak to any senators for or against candidates. Connally, once secretary to Lyndon Johnson, chaired Texas Democratic executive committee and has ties to Fort Worth law firm Richardson and Bass. He and Johnson served as Navy officers in World War II.
Vonnie Jasper manager of the Federal Land Bank Association of Roswell says new loans now carry 5.14 percent interest, down from 6 percent. He cites stable money markets this fall and two recent bond issues by the Federal Land Bank of Wichita as funding sources.
A sharp temperature drop ended the New Mexico Christmas spell with eastern counties cooling rapidly. Highs ranged 64 at Glenwood to 34 at Las Vegas while overnights fell to 6 at Otto and 31 at Alamo Gordo. A northern disturbance may bring lower daytime temps and wind with snow flurries in northern mountains.
