A string of minor crashes occurred in Lovington over Christmas Eve and the holidays. A scooter slipped and struck a parked 1955 Ford near Everett High, causing about 25 dollars in damage. An intersection collision at Main and Washington damaged a 1955 Chevrolet by Alan Brooks Gilbert Jr and another car driven by Glen Teske after a left turn. No Lovington residents were seriously injured and Dr Walter J Hopkins aided the busy emergency ward. In Hobbs a loud neighborhood disturbance drew the city police. two Latin American bars started a ruckus and police aided at a hospital.

A 1957 Ford half ton owned by R. D. Pritchett on Route 1 sustained about 1900 dollars in damage after a collision. A 1955 Ford was declared a total loss. Trees in the Drayton Wasson yard were damaged. No injuries were reported.
