New Mexico Traffic Toll Hits Four Hundred This Year

United Press International reports New Mexico's Christmas traffic deaths bring the annual toll to 400 with nine holiday fatalities to date. Bertha Vigil, 19, of Cundigo, died in a Chimayo crash at NM 76, while other fatal wrecks occurred near Grants, Cuba, Taos, and Albuquerque. Date details are given. multiple units and bases are noted in the toll through Wednesday.

Attempt Recovery for 15 Airmen Lost in Alaska Crash

Anchorage Alaska AP The Air Force planned an effort to recover the bodies of 15 men killed when their C54 transport crashed into Mt Iliamna 130 miles south of Anchorage A storm blocked a helicopter from reaching the site Bush pilot Don Sheldon identified the wreckage and said there were no survivors Debris was spotted by Air Force planes on Wednesday the plane had been missing since Monday en route from Elmendorf AFB to Shemya in the Aleutians on a routine supply run.

Silent Atlas To Talk Again Soon

Washington UPI The Atlas satellite weighing about 4 1 2 tons went silent on Christmas Day as it passed over the Holy Land. A Defense Department spokesman said the talking space vehicle did not communicate with ground radio and teletype receivers at stations across the United States on Thursday but was expected to resume communications soon.

Grand Jury Weighs Murder Indictments In Ventura Case

In Ventura California a grand jury is expected to indict Mrs Elizabeth Duncan 54 and two men she allegedly hired for the murder of her pregnant daughter in law Olga Duncan 39. Frank Duncan 29 husband of the slain woman will testify. Augustine Baldonado 25 and Luis Moya 22 confessed to killing Olga after Duncan promised 6000 dollars. They buried Olga in a shallow grave north of Santa Barbara following the November 17 abduction.

Safecracker Ramensky Captured After Third Escape This Year

ABERDEEN Scotland Safecracker and ex commando Johnny Ramensky 53 was captured today after his third escape from prison this year Police arrested him near Aberdeen 40 miles from Peterhead Prison They had tracked a man resembling Ramensky who was seen walking along a road Police had searched extensively during Christmas week for the convict Ramensky had escaped from Peterhead on December 17 and this was his fifth breakout from the prison
