A newborn boy nearly nine pounds, born less than two hours earlier, was found wrapped in a blanket on the seat of a shopper’s unlocked car in Walton New York. Hazel O'Dell reported the child to police and he was taken to Delaware Valley Hospital in good condition. Adoption calls began to flood the Delaware County Sheriff's Department as the incident drew public attention.

Farmers Miss Christmas Cheer By Brenner UPI Farm Editor
Farmers supplying food for Christmas dinners received less income than a year earlier, while industry middlemen gained. A Department of Agriculture price spreads report for November shows farm values 9.9 percent lower than a year before, with consumer costs slipping 2.7 percent due to lower farm prices. Farmers earned 38 cents of every dollar for farm produced foods, up from October but still below last year’s 41 cents. Middlemen margins fell 1.2 percent in November, helping raise farmers’ share slightly, while beef eggs and oilseeds rose in price enough to offset declines in milk poultry wheat lettuce and fruits. Bread prices stayed stable at 35.3 cents for a one pound loaf despite wheat prices dropping to 2.46 a bushel.
