President Eisenhower in a national address with Secretary Dulles signals willingness to pursue talks to reduce nuclear missile tensions. Officials say Kremlin must respond, while Dulles dismisses a UN special session for disarmament as non negotiable.
Werhan Construction Co of Lovington submitted a bid of 63 037 for a project to extend the Lea County Fair grounds buildings now used by the Lovington National Guard unit. Bids opened before state purchasing agent B V Roberts in Santa Fe on Monday. The addition will provide storage for weapons and supplies.
The New Mexico Retail Liquor Dealers Association issues a final appeal to liquor stores to close on Christmas Day. Frank Padilla Jr. notes highway fatalities rise above 1956 levels and urges no more accidents tied to liquor. He estimates about 70 percent of stores will be closed tomorrow.
Clint Says More P. Anderson met with New Mexico cotton farmers in Albuquerque Monday. Representatives of the New Mexico Farm Bureau Federation urged increased cotton acreage allotments. Soi Bank and drought relief programs were discussed. W. B. McAlster led the delegation. Also present were John Augustine of Las Cruces and Andrew Chitwood of Clovis.

He spoke to a Port Said crowd marking victory day, saying the funds would fund industrial projects and warning against American missiles in Turkey.
Doctors in Albuquerque said the 11 year old Terry Scott may be paralyzed for life after a back shot from a .38 caliber pistol while with a group of boys. His condition was listed as fair with paralysis and internal injuries. Surgeons removed the bullet at an Albuquerque hospital after he was flown there from Farmington.
Wilburn Walter Hamilton 48 of Lovington will receive final rites at First Baptist Church December 26 at 7 p m with reverends Dowell Campbell and Clyde Campbell officiating. Burial follows at Memory Gardens with Green Chapel directing. Survived by widow Katherine Smith and five children: Dorothy Hamilton Roswell John Richard Jerry Glen Raymond Katherine Jean plus five sisters and many relatives.

Three greyhounds valued at about $200 were reported stolen from G. G. Adams farm near Lovington early Sunday. The dogs belong to Barney Garner. five were on the place. The missing dogs include a solid yellow one year old, a blue brindle blaze-faced one year old, and a light brindle 8 to 10 months old.
A 1950 Plymouth driven by Bennie Quiroz failed to stop at a stop sign on North 2nd and Jackson. Passenger Domingo Chavez sustained a bad cut. both were rushed to the county hospital in Hobbs in good condition. The Plymouth caused about 400 dollars in damage and struck a 1957 Ford driven by Mrs. C. L. Crosby in Lovington, causing front and right side damage around 900 dollars. Crosby's daughter Joyce was a passenger and both occupants had minor injuries.
The Lovindon Country Club completes a new clubhouse pavited by the football team. The club hires the players to earn money for sweaters and expenses. A dance will open the facility on New Years Eve.
