Hoffa Jury Is Recalled After Deadlock

Collision at intersection causes $600 in damage

A two car crash at the intersection of S Second St and W Ave on Friday afternoon caused $600 in damage. Karen Jean South of 200 W Clayton drove a 1952 Pontiac south on Second St and ran a yield sign, hitting a 1962 Ford driven east on Ave J by Gary Owens of 910 W Van Buren. The Ford skid 46 feet after impact. damages were $450 to the Ford and $150 to the Pontiac. Miss South was cited for failure to yield right of way.

Lighting Contest Winners Named in Lovington

The Lovington Chamber of Commerce and Lovington Kiwanis Club announced winners for 24 entries. A. L. Dunn credited judges for selecting outstanding displays and noted many strong decorations not entered. First prizes ranged from $50 to $15 in various categories, with Arledge's winning the business loving cup for best decorated place.
