The Lovington community lists contributors to the Ington Goodfellow program and asks for help providing food baskets to needy families this Christmas. Donations may be mailed to Chief Good fellow Box 1347 Lovington or delivered to the chamber of commerce office.
In New York the number of Kennecott Copper Corp stockholders owning outstanding capital stock increased to a record 92,297 as the company declared a cash distribution payable Wednesday. Secretary Paul B. Jes noted 91,675 stockholders a year ago and 88,723 the year before.
Lovington Goodfellows prepare to assemble baskets at the Lea County Health Center Friday morning for delivery that afternoon. About 100 families are to be helped after eligibility checks. 400 Lions Club toys will also be delivered, with additional donations still welcome at the chamber of commerce or Chief Goodfellow box.

Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru will personally supervise the administration of the three Portuguese enclaves in India, a defense ministry spokesman said. Reports from New Delhi said Nehru told the military governor Major General K P Candeth to release political prisoners jailed for anti national activities.
The U S Justice Department plans possible indictments against leaders of the U S Communist party for failing to register as agents of Russia after the party and its leadership missed registration deadlines. An earlier indictment against the party for noncompliance remains pending. The trial date for that case is February 1.
The Forest Service requests withdrawal of 3 acres in Lincoln National Forest from mining claims with Interior Department approval. If granted no mining would be allowed in the area. The plan includes Indian Wells recreation area and six additional acres to protect water collection depressions.
