Senator Calls for Probe Into Red Propaganda Influx

Senator Jack Miller of Iowa urged a congressional investigation into a surge of Communist Chinese propaganda reaching the United States. He criticized the State Department as indifferent and suggested House and Senate panels review regulations on import material. Rep. Joe Pool of Texas backed banning such Communist mail.

Lovington Band Director Returns After Funeral in Hugo

Lovington High School band director J. D. Fry travels back to Lovington this weekend after attending funeral services in Hugo Oklahoma for his grandmother Mrs John Meredith. Mrs Meredith aged 92 lived with Frys mother and uncle. Services were held at Hugo First Methodist Church Thursday with burial in Hugo.

Minor Wreck in Lovington Reports Damages

A minor accident occurred about 4 25 p m Thursday in an alley behind the 500 block of West Avenue D Lovington. A 1958 Imperial two door driven by Henry L Throckmorton 303 East Avenue A and a 1962 Ford driven by Cleo C Stroup 1118 West Jefferson were involved. Police estimated damages at 75 and 20 dollars respectively.

Out-of-state farm crew leaders must register for 1966

Bruce Jackson of the New Mexico State Employment Service says interstate crew leaders planning work outside the state must register with the U S Department of Labor. Renewals apply for those registered last year, with locations listed in Lovington and Hobbs. The Farm Labor Contractor Registration Act applies to crews of ten or more nonfamily workers and requires identifications for designated crew members. The act aims to improve work terms, information exchange, safety, and living conditions for migrant workers.

Apollo White Sands test aims for 2 pm Saturday

NASA officials announce the final Apollo escape system test at White Sands, set for 2 p.m. if weather and countdown cooperate. The Little Joe II booster will lift 12 miles, then the Apollo module will separate and land with three parachutes after ascent.

Carlsbad Advised To Watch Funds

A private auditing firm urged Carlsbad to install proper records and controls over city funds. CPA F. W. Cannon said the city lacks effective control of revenue collection and distribution.
