Lovington Kiwanis Club member Jim Jameson outlined the Home Lighting Contest rewards with five categories. Deadline for entries is Tuesday noon, and winners will be named Saturday December 23 after judging held Tuesday to Friday.
President Kennedy arrived in Caracas under tight security as thousands cheered the UPI report notes a record welcome. He warned Castro and promoted the Alliance for Progress during a speech at a campesino agrarian project dedication. The crowd was described as about 300000, the largest ever for a foreign visitor in Venezuela.
Roswell woman Marie Mary Kirby, 34, was killed when her 1960 Ford left U S Highway 380 a one foot embankment near Tatum and overturned. She was thrown from the car and died instantly after the vehicle came to rest on its top following the crash at 5 10 p m going west toward Roswell.

The Chancel Choir of the First Methodist Church presents Handel's Messiah portions on Sunday night at 7 30. The 35 voice choir will perform six choruses including And The Glory of The Lord and For Unto Us A Child Is Born with solos by Mrs Hoyt Caldwell Mrs Jerry Hanners Mrs Bill Chandler Gene Clardy and Bill Chandler. Accompanist is Mrs Wilson Knapp. Director is Mr Chandler.

MCCOMB Miss A. P. McGehee and husband closed their five year restaurant at the integrated Greyhound terminal citing white patrons leaving when a Black person entered. They lament losses of about 7000 dollars in equipment as racial tensions followed the court-ordered integration.

In Hobbs an Advance and Gifts meeting announced 304 174 in pledges and gifts for the College Development Program from 75 firms and individuals. Virgil Henry presided as general chairman. Harold Runnels and Dr Kenneth Osborn outline county wide plans to raise 750 000 for a new 160 acre campus and faculty expansion to serve 300 students.
Lovington prepares the west courthouse lawn for the third annual Christmas Nativity Scene. Citizens led by Mrs. E H Byers built six life like figures from Massonite with help from J R Morgan and local sororities. The program features a high school choir and band performing atop the courthouse with six scenes and open Bible displays.
