A 1959 truck hauling a large tank tore 300 feet of telephone cable and downed three poles, disrupting service in the 100 and 200 blocks of Avenue L. The accident caused more than $1,000 in losses. no charges were filed. Linemen worked through night to restore lines as storms raged. Police listed multiple minor crashes with few injuries and cited drivers for yielding errors and failed right of way.

Funeral services for Myrtie Mae Roberts 82 will be held at 10 a m Friday in Smith-Yarbro Funeral Home chapel. She died Wednesday in Hobbs hospital after living in Hobbs. Born April 16 1878 in Matagoras Bay Texas she ran a store and post office at Nadine from 1918 to 1922. Survivors include two sons Clarence of Portales and John of Lovington two daughters Ninah Chaney Hobbs and Anice Barnes Green Forest Ark a brother John Morris San Antonio 43 grandchildren 24 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Rev W M Beauchamp will officiate with burial in Lovington cemetery.

Juke Box Theft At Teen Age Cafe On The Hill
Thieves broke into the Teen age Cafe on The Hill Wednesday night stealing between 50 and 60 dollars in dimes and quarters from a juke box. The cafe owner said the box is normally emptied on Thursdays. Entry was gained by prying loose plywood over a broken door vane. About 2.30 dollars remained in the box.

Service Pipe Line Announces Five Percent Wage Increase
Service Pipe Line Company will raise wages by five percent for non executive, non union represented employees. The increase, effective December 18, 1960, covers Tulsa General Office and all divisions in the firm's 15 operating states. Annual Christmas Nativity Program at Courthouse Sunday
The Lov ington Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Nativity program Sunday at 5 p m on the courthouse lawn. Six lighted scenes will feature narration and performances by the High School vocal music department with scripture readings and carols from Rev Bob Lindley J R Morgan and local church leaders.
