Lovington Schools announced the resignation of Char lie Painter from all coaching duties at the end of the school year. Painter will remain a biology instructor, having become head coach in 1963 after Wilson Knapp’s resignation. The Wildcats posted mixed records through 1965 and district standings fluctuated within 4-A. Assistant coaches Dale Buck and Jimmy Williams remain, with no replacement named yet.

Car crashes into house after leaving unattended Buick
A 1959 Buick struck a residence at 308 Avenue N after the driver, Margaret Grey, left the motor running and parked nearby. The car sustained about 100 dollars in front-end damage and the house about 500 dollars in damages. Grey was cited for leaving an unattended vehicle.
