Lovington to light nativity on courthouse square

An all city project by the Lovington Chamber of Commerce street lighting committee will open a life size nativity scene display on the courthouse square at 5 p m Sunday December 20. The six scenes depict key biblical events with Bible pages as backings and will be created by local committees and volunteers from churches and civic groups.

Presbyterians Plan Christmas Program At First Church

A Christmas program of Scripture readings and carols will be presented Sunday evening December 13 at 7 00 PM by the choir and congregation of the First Presbyterian Church under William J King and Elyse Howard the organ. Tom Embree will read scripture and Rev Gordon Garlington Jr will give the dedicatory prayer. The Joy Gift benefits ministers and their dependents.

FCC Studies Proposals To Improve Radio TV Programs

The FCC opened hearings on broadcast abuses and studied six proposals to improve radio and television content. Educators church spokesmen and editors are among the witnesses. Four days of hearings next week will wrap up the first phase, with industry spokesmen to be called after January 1.

City 4-H Club Holds Regular Meeting in Lovington

The Lovington city 4-H Club gathered Monday for their usual session. Officers were installed for the coming year, and plans were made to craft useful toys for Lovington School's Exceptional Children class. Refreshments followed a candlelight ceremony.
