Missing Patrolmen Rescued After Mudbound Ordeal Near Hatch
Border Patrolmen William M. Carver and Norman A. Howe, missing since Tuesday noon while checking a freight train for illegal migrants, were found exhausted but unhurt days later. A 200-strong search with 11 aircraft traced them through rough country near Hatch, New Mexico. Howe was airlifted to Las Cruces after being spotted by an El Paso pilot. Carver remained with the vehicle until rescue.

Funeral Services Held Today For Cotton Markham
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p m in the First Baptist Church of Tatum for M D Cotton Markham a longtime Tatum businessman who died in a truck accident nine miles north of Bronco. Interment followed in Tatum cemetery with Smith-Yarbro of Lovington in charge. Markham born December 1 1920 served as mayor in 1956 57. Survivors include his wife Sue four children and his mother. Pallbearers and Lions Club members served as honoraries.

Family Dies In Burning House In Ironton Ohio
Six members of the Littlejohn family died in a fire in a small three room frame home near Ironton Ohio an oil cook stove apparently exploded. The victims Elmer 29 Betty 25 and their four children Gary 7 Gail 5 Dorothy 3 and a baby about 3 months old. The incident followed another fatal blaze in Lawrence County two hours earlier. Deputy Smith reported the house collapsed in flames and all likely were asleep in one bedroom with bodies found close together.
