George Teague Announces Run For Lea County Sheriff
Lea County deputy George W. Teague announces his intention to file for Lea County Sheriff in the Democratic Primary next June. Teague is a 15 year law enforcement veteran in Lea County, started with Hobbs Police in 1960, served under Sheriffs Pennell and Price, and remains a deputy under Sheriff Wrinkle. Teague, 41, a Sherman Texas native, served in the Army in 1944, earning a Purple Heart in combat with the 7th Infantry Division and 22nd Combat Engineers.

Eunice Man Arrested After Highway Pursuit Chase
Lupe G. Rivas, 21, of Eunice, jailed in Hobbs on assault with a vehicle charge after a high speed chase with Hobbs Police Lovington Police and Lea County Sheriff’s deputies. A roadblock was requested at the Lovington city limits as the white over blue pickup pursued earlier forced two Hobbs patrol cars off the road.
