The New Mexico Supreme Court reviewed a second motion to dismiss Gov. cargos removal case against Highway Commissioner Thaxton. Thaxton argues the voter amendment abolishes the old commission and creates a new body. prosecutors say the amendment preserves the commission via legislative action.
Lea County resident Alice Clay of Hobbs recalls December 7, 1941, near Pearl Harbor while in Hawaii with her husband and three sons. She recounts the shock of bombs, evacuation to Honolulu, telegrams home, and the family's return months later as war casualties and evacuees began to be processed.
