Lovington Doctor Heads to Viet Nam for Two Months of Civilian Care

Dr. Harlan C. Pannell will depart December 15 for Viet Nam to provide major surgery for civilians injured by the war. He replaces Dr. Herschel Douglas and serves under the People To People Help Foundation with no salary. The mission spans about two months, returning around March 1, 1966, and will involve civilian casualties only.

Lovington Man Reports Auto Pistol Theft Near Cafe

Reyes Espinosa of 648 East Jefferson reported a .22 short six shot pistol stolen from his auto parked on West Avenue D in front of a cafe between 7 and 7 30 P M Monday. The gun was in the glove compartment and the suspect set on the pistol Noval.

Thieves Loot Jackson Chevrolet Safe

Police report a Sunday night break in at Jackson Chevrolet. Intruders entered through a south window, pried open a safe and stole about $260. A large hammer and wrecking bar were used to smash a partition window before reaching the safe.
