Amigos Seek 250000 State Aid for New Mexico Exhibit
The New Mexico Amigos group plans to ask the 1963 legislature for a 250000 appropriation to begin constructing an exhibit at the New York Worlds Fair. Last Rites Held For Mrs Cain In Hobbs
Funeral services were held at First Methodist Church Hobbs for Mrs Sam Lora Cain 83 pioneer resident. Rev H L McAlester officiated burial followed at Prairie Haven Cemetery under Griffin Funeral Home. Mrs Cain died Thursday morning at Hobbs Lea General Hospital after illness Wednesday. She and husband Samuel E Cain homesteaded near Hobbs in 1908 later living in Levington during Sheriff terms 1927 30 and 1933 36. Survived by husband two sons Samuel E Cain Jr Von Cain two daughters Mrs Joe Henry Mrs Tom Humble one sister Mrs Winnie Stafford 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Mental Hospital Tightens Security After Escapes
LAS VEGAS UP S stronger security measures are underway at the state mental hospital. Warden Har old Cox urged seclusion for security risk patients following a security conference with hospital director Dr. Thomas Hogs head and penitentiary officials. Two Santa Fe penitentiary staffers will assist, including Lt. John Roybal and C A Carlson who will convert the infirmary to maximum security with bars and new locks while installing additional devices. Ten escapes occurred in four days over Thanksgiving weekend and Ramon Ruiz, a suspect in a Santa Fe woman’s death, fled. District Attorney Walter Kegel seeks Ruiz’s transfer to the penitentiary until the hospital can prevent escapes.

CAB reports radar on Idlewild runway four was inoperative due to relocation of the control tower instrument room. The Eastern DC7B with 51 aboard crashed in thick fog, killing 25.
