Public Service Co of New Mexico will invest over 250 million dollars to join the Arizona Nuclear Power Project, a 2.2 billion enterprise building three nuclear plants by 1985. A Kansas man Alfredo Salinas of Wichita shot and killed Alamogordo Police Lt. Jim Vigil after a traffic stop. Vigil fired two shots, two hours later Salinas was found dead in his car with the officer’s .38 revolver nearby. Salinas faced aggravated battery charges over a Wichita wife shooting. autopsy pending.
Lovington police officers Gene Littlejohn and Ken Neal sustained painful injuries in an arrest attempt at 811 W Ave F. Cecil Dye was held on 600 bond after a struggle that left Littlejohn with a sprained hand and Neal with a sprained arm and head contusions.
