The Lovington hospital requires about 185 thousand more to be ready, with 32 500 for code deficiencies and 130 000 for water piping and ducting. Structural work and equipment costs push total near 185 thousand, with no funds for staff or supplies.
State highway plans place Lovington at the center of major Lea County road work this fall and winter. U S 82 will receive widening and overlay with six foot shoulders and prime coat, then a 14 inch overlay. State Road 83 also chosen for a 14 inch overlay with contracts expected later this year. Total area cost tops 1.4 million dollars with a September start for widening and prime coat and November for the overlay. Ken Towle of Hobbs said the projects will involve State Highway Department crews and equipment.
