Two Fined In Court In Lovington Saturday Night
In Reese Greaves court Monday morning Jessie Wooten, 21, of Lovington was fined 275 dollars and had her license revoked on a charge of driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest. She was arrested by Paul Hecht and Clarence Smith at 9 30 p m Saturday. Robert C Woodward, 37, of Lovington pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly and using abusive language and is held on 100 dollar bond awaiting a hearing. Woodward was arrested by J E Polson and A F White late Friday afternoon.

First Season Storm Alma Whips Carolina Coast
Tropical storm Alma neared the North Carolina coast after midnight, with winds up to 50 mph and high tides lashing resort beaches. The U S Weather Bureau placed its center near 33.3 N 77.7 W, about 70 miles south-southeast of Wilmington, moving toward Morehead City and Cape Hatteras at 14 mph. Gale warnings extended from Morehead City to Cape Hatteras ahead of the system.

Wreck Damage Totals 550 After Main Street Collision
Two cars collided on Main Street at 8 04 p m as both northbound. Guy Neill Elliott 27 of 401 W Ave P drove a 1961 Pontiac that stopped to turn left. John Follus Ray 37 of 307 W Ave M drove a 1959 Plymouth that skidded 28 feet and struck the Pontiacs rear. Damages were 250 to the Pontiac and 300 to the Plymouth. Ray was cited for following too closely by Officer J W Jolly.
