Police Nab Suspect Three Hours After Theft Reported
A woman reported $247 stolen from her home. Cecil Rhinehart, 28, of 806 S Second St, was arrested within hours and charged with grand larceny after police found twelve $20 bills, five ones, and three 25 cent pieces on him. The money's location and Rhinehart's prior record were cited in the investigation and warrant.

Minor Lovington Crash Causes 350 in Damages
A downtown Lovington minor accident Saturday caused 350 in damages to two cars with no citations. A 755 Buick north on Main tried to turn left toward Central and was rear ended by a 53 Chevy driven by H. J. Hagan Jr. The Buick, driven by Mrs. Lois A. Patterson of Mallamar, sustained 200 in rear damage. Hagans vehicle absorbed the remaining damages.

Reports from Buena Vista say inmates attacked a guard at the Colorado Reformatory early today and tore up cell block C. One inmate Gomez was killed and several inmates and two guards injured. Warden’s wife said riot began after 6 pm and cell block C is back under guard.

Fire damages truck near Lovington on Artesia highway
Fire of unknown origin damaged a truck about 10 miles west of Lovington on Artesia highway yesterday afternoon. The vehicle belonged to Harold Flowers of Hobbs and was driven by 18 year old Eugene Winker of Nadine New Mexico.

The infant Lydna Anne Hunter, child of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Hunter of Eunice, died at Eunice hospital. Survivors include grandparents Mrs. Hazel Hunter and Mr. Glen Terhune. Graveside rites were held at 2:00 PM at Prairie Haven in Hobbs, with Green Chapel Funeral Home in charge.
