The Lea County Fair and Rodeo runs through Saturday with many events. Highlights include the rodeo, junior livestock show, carnival, bingo by American Legion and VFW, and exhibits. The Rotary Club dunking board features volunteers including Senator Harold Runnels. more volunteers are needed for the final nights.
Lovington police units were alerted to three youths who climbed the 630 foot Lovington Antenna Company tower. Officers brought them down safely and explained the risks. no arrests were made.

Patrolman Emmett Hopkins reported a break in at the City Pool Hall. Lovington Police and Lea County Sheriff deputies say entry occurred between 1 30 and 2 00 this morning, with the west door forced from its hinges. A green money bag with $117 55 was taken. some silver and checks remained in the register.
