Accidents and Break-Ins Reported To Lovington Officials
Police and sheriff's office logged one traffic accident at 7 08 p m at Commercial and Highway 82 in Lovington. A 1962 Chevrolet driven by Dorothy H Hollaway was a total loss. passengers Patsy Whitley and Donna Whitely sustained minor injuries and were treated. A 1967 Plymouth owned by DA S Well Service and driven by Robert McCubbin sustained about 650 in damages. McCubbin hospitalized for observation. Break-ins were reported at Santa Fe Las Vegas Portales Hobbs Lovington and Freeman Packing Company. Robberies included 45 in cash plus valuables from Imogene Dickerson at 16th Street and beef, ham, bacon, meat, and cash from Freeman Packing. Investigation continues.

ADA lineup complete Underwood appointed to potter's position
Lovington attorney Jack Underwood was named by District Attorney Pat Hanagan to fill the Lea County assistant district attorney post left vacant by Ray Potter. Underwood resumes a full ADA staff in Lea County and arrives with a history as former Lovington mayor and Alaska attorney general official. Leland Stone, a Boston University law graduate, was likewise appointed to fill the other vacancy, bringing prior service in Albuquerque and Silver City and recent work for the New Mexico Public Service Commission.
