The Lea County Fair Rodeo runs Wednesday through Saturday in Lovington in August with professional events in bareback bronc saddle bronc bull riding calf roping steer wrestling and team tying sanctioned by the Rodeo Cowboys Association based in Denver. Jewelry owner Mhoon reports a well dressed man stole a diamond ring worth 300 dollars Saturday afternoon after trying on expensive men's dinner rings. Sharon Mhoon assisted. the thief fled without paying and was described as a white male about 27, 5 8, 140 pounds, brown hair in a light yellow plaid shirt with tie and tan pants. Sheriff’s office contacted at 4 47 but the suspect was not captured.

Quail Dobbs to Bring T Model Car Act to Lea County Rodeo
The Lea County Rodeo lineup features Quail Dobbs and his 1910 T Model as a top act. Dobbs began in rodeo seven years ago, moving from barrel work to bullfighting before turning to clowning with a car act famed nationwide.
