ICC Orders Freight Rates Lowered
The State Corporation Commission said the Interstate Commerce Commission ordered the Southwestern Motor Freight Bureau to cut charges by 14 to 20 percent for shipments to and from New Mexico. The lower tariffs must be applied by Oct. 17, saving New Mexico residents about 5 million dollars yearly in shipping costs. Commission chairman Columbus Ferguson called the ruling a long but worthwhile fight.
