UPI reports New Mexico marked the biggest personal income increase in the Southwest last year, up 11.3 percent from 4.399 billion to 4.896 billion, while unemployment jumped 15.9 percent. Arizona rose 11.2 percent to 10.089 billion. Albuquerque grew 14.9 percent to 384,200 residents as state real income in manufacturing fell despite rising production income and living costs.

Eye Injuries Suffered in Lease Mishap
David Boatright, 23, of Pyburn Apartments Lovington suffered eye injuries from an ETA Penn lease accident four miles south of Caprock Church. A loose union joint sprayed hydrocloric acid on his head and chest as Halliburton crew members pressured hoses.
